FAQ

Booking terms and pricing

Please fill out my booking form – I’ll respond to you via email.

Just be aware, sometimes it may take me a week or longer to get to your submission – I do all of my own admin along with tattooing and drawing for tattoos so things can get busy, I appreciate your patience! Sometimes my emails end up in spam, so if it’s been a while and you haven’t heard from me please check there.

For new bookings down the track, please send through a new booking form.

Deposits

All bookings require a deposit of $100 – $200 (depending on the length of the booking) to be paid within 48 hours or the spot cannot be held for you.

This fee will be deducted off the total cost of your tattoo at the end of your appointment. Please note that deposits are non-refundable at any time.

Rescheduling

A minimum of 48 hours notice must be given to move all appointments – less than this may incur a full loss of deposit value, and a new deposit may be required to confirm a new date.

The appointment can be rescheduled up to 3 times, as long as enough notice has been given – after that the deposit will be forfeited and a new deposit will be required to confirm a new date.

Cancellations

If you would like to cancel your appointment, please give me at least 48 hours notice. As deposits are non-refundable, if you would like to book in again for another tattoo, a dew deposit will be required.

Late arrivals

Please let me know via email if you are running late.

I will try my best to accommodate you, and ideally we will go forward with the appointment, however if a late start cuts into the appointment time too much, we may have to reschedule. In this case, your deposit may be forfeited and a new deposit will be required to confirm a new date.

If you are over 30 minutes late, your deposit will be forfeited and a new deposit will be required to confirm a new date.

No-shows

If you do not show up to your appointment and do not provide notice then your deposit will be forfeited and a new deposit will be required to confirm a new date if you wish to rebook.

If I have drawn up a custom design for you, and you no-show and I don’t hear from you, I will consider your design forfeited, and I may add this design to my flash collection, available to be tattooed by someone else.

Minimum cost

My minimum cost for a tattoo is $150.

Full day rate

My full day rate is $1000, and I work from 11am – 6pm.

If we finish the tattoo/s earlier than expected, or you need to tap-out early, then I will not charge you the entire full day rate.

Individual Tattoos

I price my designs based on each piece, rather than an hourly rate.

Factors that impact the final price:

  • The complexity of the design
  • Sizing (smaller doesn’t automatically mean cheaper, as this can make tattoos more intricate and time consuming!)
  • Placement (some areas of the body are more complex and therefore take longer to tattoo than others)
  • Colour (this takes longer than black/grey)

Factors that do not impact the final price:

  • Taking breaks during the tattoo
  • Making minor changes on the day of the tattoo

Price quotes

If you would like a quote please don’t hesitate to ask! Just note that this may be subject to change, as placement and sizing often changes on the day of the appointment, both of which can affect the amount of time required to complete the tattoo.

Budgets

I am happy to work within a budget, and happy to discuss what will/won’t be doable.

Tattoos

All of my flash are repeatable, and most are made to be tattooed within a certain range of sizes.

I am more than happy to make any adjustments you’d like, provided we discuss this prior your appointment so that I have time to make these changes. I’m also happy to make new custom designs based on any of my flash designs.

You can find my flash linked in the menu above!

Some of my flash is made to be tattooed only once – I will always label these as such.

If I have any available, these can also be found under my flash section linked above.

If you would like something similar, I can definitely draw you something new based off any of these pieces!

I am always happy to do custom designs!

Please make sure you have a good idea of what you’d like to get tattooed – the more information you give me, the better I’ll be able to understand your idea, but please make sure your descriptions are clear and succinct.

Consultations

Most of the time you won’t need to come in for a consult, but for bigger pieces or if your idea is a little unclear, I may ask you to come in just so we can chat in person – these are free and usually won’t take very long. If you can’t make it in we can schedule a consult via video chat.

Your final design

You’ll be able to see your design on the day of your appointment (this is standard in the tattoo industry). This is for a number of reasons – I draw all of my designs in order of appointment so I usually won’t have time to work on them until the week leading up to your appointment, and also to avoid having the design taken and tattooed by someone else (it happens unfortunately)!

For larger concepts (sleeves, back pieces etc) I’ll send through an initial sketch just to make sure I’m on the same page as you are, and we are able to make revisions if needed before the appointment day.

Changing your design

Appointment day:

I’ll always allow time at the beginning of your appointment to make any minor changes to the design. If you would like to make major changes to the design/original idea, we will likely have to reschedule your appointment. In this case a new deposit will be required to cover the extra drawing time, and the time that was allocated to your appointment.

Pre-appointment:

If you’d like to change your idea, you must let me know at least a week before your appointment. This is because I will need to allow extra time to draw, and if I’m not given enough notice we may have to reschedule for a later date due to time constraints. If you decide you’d like something that will take more time than was initially allocated to your appointment slot, this is totally fine, but we may also have to reschedule.

What if you don’t like the final design?

Sometimes things just don’t work out, and that’s okay! Please speak up, I want you to be 100% happy with your tattoo, and I would rather you not be tattooed than get something you don’t love.

If you decide that you no longer want the tattoo, and we aren’t able to figure out something that works, your deposit will be forfeited just to cover my time spent drawing, and the time that was allocated to your appointment.

This also means that I may add your forfeited design to my flash collection, available to be tattooed by someone else.

  • Any of my repeatable flash and available designs
  • Custom tattoos in my style
  • Other artist’s artwork – if evidence is provided that permission by the original artist has been granted to you to have the design tattooed, or that you have purchased a tattoo ticket from the original artist (however if I do not feel as though I can do the design justice, even if you have permission, I will decline)
  • Small tattoos/script – although I don’t often post these on my site/social media, I am always happy to do script and little simple tattoos.
  • Artwork in other mediums (sculpture/photos/etc)
  • Other artist’s artwork without permission
  • Face, inner lip, palms, genitalia – sorry!
  • Full colour tattoos – I am however happy to add small amounts of colour to predominantly black and grey pieces
  • Tattoos in different styles to mine. There are many other artists that specialise in all kinds of different styles, and I am happy to recommend another artist that I feel would be better suited to your request if need be

Preparing for your appointment

Be sure to get a good night’s sleep before your tattoo, and make sure to eat something before you come in.

Don’t drink any alcohol the night before, and try and avoid taking anti-inflammatory pain killers prior. These can both make your blood thinner, which can cause more bleeding during the tattooing process and consequently make it harder for the ink to stay in the skin.

Moisturise and exfoliate your skin in the week leading up to your tattoo, but not on the day of your appointment.

Please do not wear fake tan, as this increases the risk of infection while the tattoo is healing, and I won’t be able to tattoo you if you are wearing any.

If you would like to use numbing cream please let me know beforehand and I can give you some recommendations. I do not provide numbing cream, however I do have a numbing spray (Bactine) that I can apply during the tattoo (however it only works on broken skin, so I can’t use it right away).

Please wear comfy and appropriate clothing to your tattoo. Loose clothing is recommended around the area being tattooed so that it is easily accessible, and won’t cause any friction to your fresh tattoo afterwards. Bring a change of clothes with you if you need to, and try not to wear your best clothes just incase any tattoo or stencil ink gets on them!

Some general recommendations for different tattoo spots:

  • Back – button up shirt that can be worn backwards
  • Legs – skirt, loose shorts, loose pants that can be rolled up (for lower legs)
  • Arms – singlet or loose t shirt

If you aren’t sure what to wear for a different spot, just ask!

For tattooing in more private areas I will always offer to put up a privacy screen, however feel free to request one at any time if I haven’t offered one to you and I’ll happily set one up.

A water bottle! And I especially recommend for longer sessions to bring some sugary snacks or drinks with you. For full day bookings, you can bring lunch (we have a fridge/kettle/microwave at the studio), or you’ll also have time to go out and grab food during our lunch break if you need to. This is important, as not eating will cause your blood sugar levels to drop, which can make you feel weak, dizzy and potentially shaky.

Please feel free to bring some entertainment if you’d like (eg. a book, or headphones to listen to music/watch videos)

If you have any questions or concerns at any point in the process, please let me know!

Aftercare

Your tattoo will take around 2-3 weeks to heal on the surface, and another few months to heal completely, depending on the tattoo.

Until the tattoo has fully healed on the surface, please follow these steps:

  • Do not scratch or pick (no matter how itchy or flaky!)
  • Keep out of the sun
  • Do not apply fake tan or sunscreen
  • No submerging in baths/spas/pools/oceans etc
  • No gym/heavy exercise
  • Don’t touch your tattoo (unless washing/moisturising with clean hands)
  • Don’t let other people, and especially pets, touch your tattoo
  • Wear loose clothing over your tattoo that will not rub and irritate it

After surface healing is complete, applying sunscreen daily will give your tattoo the best chance of looking good over time!

Cleansers

  • Use a gentle unscented liquid soap (Cetaphil is great). Stay away from bar soaps as they can carry bacteria.
  • Application: Gently rub with clean hands under warm water, and then rinse off. Air dry, or pat dry with clean paper towel only.

Moisturisers

  • 100% pure unrefined coconut oil and Dr Pickles tattoo balm are great and both easily available in grocery stores/chemists. Hustle Butter Deluxe aftercare cream is also fantastic, and can be purchased online through reputable sellers.
  • Make sure your chosen moisturiser contains primarily natural ingredients, and no artificial colours/fragrances.
  • Application: Lightly rub moisturiser on, and then wipe most of it off so the tattoo is just shiny and not wet/soaked. Applying too thickly can cause issues with healing – your tattoo still needs to breathe!

  • Leave second skin on for 4 days
  • You may see excess ink under the second skin, which is completely normal
  • You can shower as usual, however if anything gets underneath the adhesive, it’s best to take it off straight away. If you feel you may be allergic to the second skin, it’s okay to take it off early and continue with the next steps!
  • Once 4 days are up, peel off the second skin slowly under running water or in the shower. It’s best to do this at the end of your shower so that it has had some time to soften up. Sometimes you may see ink attached to the second skin – this is normal and is just excess ink.
  • Clean your tattoo and once dry, apply moisturiser (recommendations above).
  • Continue to wash daily and lightly apply moisturiser 1-2 times throughout the day (just when your tattoo feels dry) until fully healed.
  • Take off the cling wrap when you get home.
  • Rinse off any excess ink/blood/plasma under warm water, and let air dry. Do not apply moisturiser yet.
  • Sleep in clean sheets or clean clothes overnight to protect your new tattoo. Sometimes excess ink may come out, so be careful of wearing new clothing!
  • The next day, gently clean air dry in the morning and evening.
  • 48h after your appointment, you can start applying a very light layer of moisturiser (recommendations above), just so it’s shiny! Make sure your tattoo has been washed and is dry before this step.
  • Continue to wash daily and lightly apply moisturiser 1-2 times throughout the day (just when your tattoo feels dry) until fully healed.

If you have any questions or concerns, just email me!

Touch ups

Free touch ups

I offer free touch ups, as long as you have cared properly for your tattoo!

Touch ups that will incur costs

Poor aftercare or damage: My minimum fee is $50.

Finger tattoos: These are prone to fading much more than other placements due to the general wear and tear that our hands go through on a daily basis, so they will likely need to be touched up. Due to this my touch up policy for finger tattoos is first one free, and any more will be $50 just to cover materials/time (unless you’re already in for another tattoo, in which case I’m happy to do the finger touch up for free as we’re already set up)!

How to book

If you think you need a touch up, please send me an email with a clear photo of your healed tattoo, so I know how much time to allow. You don’t need to submit via my booking form.
